What Do You Do With A Kangaroo tells the story of a girl dealing with a house full of pesky animals. It is told with a repetitive pattern of an animal being in her way, and then the question "What do you do?" is posed. Throughout the story she is constantly throwing out the animals, and trying to go about her business. It ends with all the animals in her bed, and as she is unable to kick them all out, the "What do you do" question is answered with "you let them stay".
This story is as fantastic as most of Mayer's works, and again comes from the perspective of a child. It also represents how most of Mayer's characters tend to be quite stubborn and bold; they do not allow their fear or troubles stop them from getting their way.
